MY STORY: Healing Through Language, Land and Spirit.

Healing is natural; we are immersed in the sacred flow of water, air, and land. As a proud Metis woman from Northern, Saskatchewan. I walk in two worlds: One shaped by traditional Cree/Metis teachings and another informed by contemporary mental health practices. My journey is rooted in the belief that healing begins when we reconnect with our stories, our languages, and the land that holds us.

I hold a diploma in Mental Health and Wellness and a certification in Catholic Women's Leadership from the Transformational Leadership program at St. Paul's University in Ottawa. For over a decade, I've worked in child and youth development, nurturing resilience and empowerment in young minds.  My work lives at the intersection of mental health, faith, and Indigenous knowledge systems.

I practice narrative medicine through a culturally grounded lens, using storytelling not only as a therapeutic tool but also as a sacred act of remembering. I incorporate Cree and Metis language into healing sessions, recognizing that our words carry spirit and memory; language is medicine. When we speak in our mother tongues, whether it is "Miyo-pimatisiwin" (the good life) or "Wahkohtowin"  (Kinship), we invoke ancestral wisdom and affirm our place in creation.

Inspired by Jesus' teachings on the power of testimony, I believe that sharing our stories is a path to transformation. I draw on both the teachings of Christ and the oral traditions of my people to create spaces of compassion, empathy, and spiritual renewal. Much like a monarch butterfly emerging from its chrysalis, healing unfolds in its own time when the spirit is ready.

My therapeutic approach is holistic and relational.  I integrate traditional ways of knowing, ceremony, land-based practices, and Indigenous storytelling with contemporary wellness strategies.  I work closely with communities to promote mental health awareness, cultural safety, and resilience. My advocacy is rooted in the belief that healing is not just personal, it is communal, intergenerational, and deeply spiritual.
